What is Creativity :The fruitful combining of things which reveal unsuspected kinship between facts, long  known, but wrongly believed to be strangers to one another. (Poincare)

Imagination is the beginning of creation.  You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last you will create what you will. (George Bernard Shaw)

Notice what happens when you follow your intuitive feelings. The result is usually increased energy and power, and a sense of things flowing. (Shakti Gawain)

Creativity is effective surprise. (J.S. Bruner)

e.g. Come up with 10 things that a cat and a refrigerator have in common.

Many people miss the chance for creativity because they're not trying in the field that's natural to them. The idea that, in order to be creative, find your medium, whether it be in the "traditional" arts such as painting or dance, or in any other occupation. Whatever is closest to your heart.

Some Inspiration:

Creativity Quotes

The greatest living contemporary artist is the creative, uninhibited child at play.

Roger Von Oech

Fear colludes with our most conservative self and allows us to stop before we try, dismiss before we think, mock before we imagine.

Carol Lloyd

Creativity and violence start from the same wellspring of human emotion.

Rollo May

We have to believe that a creative being lives within ourselves, whether we like it or not, and that we must get out of its way, for it will give us no peace until we do.

Mary Richards

It takes courage to be creative; just as soon as you have a new idea you are in a minority of one.

E Paul Torrance

Imagination is more important than knowledge.

Albert Einstein

When the artist is alive in any person, whatever his kind of work may be, he becomes an inventive, searching, daring, self-expressing, creature. He becomes interesting to other people. He disturbs, upsets, enlightens and he opens the way for a better understanding.

Robert Henri

There is no use trying, said Alice. "One can't believe impossible things. I dare say you haven't had much practice, When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

Lewis Carroll

Explore something completely different everyday; try out a new recipe... read a new author or point of view... listen to an unfamiliar song... add a new quote to your journal... sing or dance for no reason at all... take a long quiet walk... hug a friend...wave to kids on the bus.

Margie Lapanja

Podcast Release
Some educational conferences may require written permission for conference presentation session recording and sharing as podcasts. It is my personal practice and policy to always obtain verbal permission from presenters and others who I interview or whose presentations I record and share in my podcast channel. My podcast is non-commercial and content shared there is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.05 license.

To comply with conference requirements which require advance written permission from both conference organizers as well as presenters, I have created a release and permission form which can be completed by hand or electronically.

* Podcast Permission and Release (PDF)
* Electronic Podcast Permission and Release Form (Google Docs Form)

These forms were last updated 19 June 2008. Feel free to use and/or modify the text in these forms to suit your own needs and purposes, but remember I am not a lawyer and do NOT provide this to you with any legal guarantees! http://www.speedofcreativity.org/about/release/
